One Percent for Women

We believe that investing in women and girls not only advances gender equality, but also creates the systemic change needed for sustainable economic development and poverty reduction.

Inspired by the 1% for the Planet movement, we created another commitment that we call: One Percent For Women. We give 1% of annual sales or employee hours to organizations that empower women.

One Percent for Planet

We believe that good fashion can be environmentally friendly. We're working towards having the least harmful impact with our products and packaging while also donating funds and time to meet our 1% for the Planet commitment.

It may sound cliche, but DIOSA is a company that wants to make the world a better place, both for the people and the ecosystems on it. We know that this can only be accomplished if we first strive for inclusivity and diversity not only in our workplace but also in every aspect of the fashion industry.

Product & Packaging

Our goals for this year include pursuing a more environmentally-friendly leather alternative, identify more fair-trade artisans to source product from, improve packaging to be even more eco-friendly, and ensure we have a process to assess new manufacturers for ethical and eco-conscious practices.

Empowering Women

Empowering women is a value embedded in DIOSA designs. I mean DIOSA literally means Goddess – it’s integral to what we do and a vital part of being a “business for good”.

We aim to further expand our partnerships with women’s empowerment centres. Not only do we strive to continue working with women globally, we’re also passionate about supporting the women in our own backyard. That’s why we’re committed to partnering with Canadian organizations to empower and uplift the women in our own communities.

Environmental Impact

This year we’re committed to furthering our education and progressing our eco-friendly practices. Our goals include measuring our carbon footprint (and learning how to reduce it) as well as releasing a bag constructed from an environmentally friendly leather-alternative. We also plan to continue our education for implementing a shipping program that’s as environmentally friendly as possible.

Why DIOSA thinks pronouns are important.

We are proud. Proud to support anyone LGBTQ2+.

When we all put pronouns in our signatures and LinkedIn Profiles, it helps normalize the process and makes the world just a little bit more comfortable for everyone. Especially folks whose gender might not match our pre-conceived ideas of gender.

But most importantly, it says loud and clear "this is a safe space for people of all genders" and that's what DIOSA strives towards.

Truth & reconciliation & land acknowledgement.

DIOSA is exploring ways to connect with and support indigenous peoples of Canada. There are94 calls-to-action that were outlined by the Truth & Reconciliation Commission of Canada and DIOSA endeavours to work towards as many as we can. We are educating ourselves and interested in feedback to continuously improve. We also hope to share our learnings with others.

Our first step is to acknowledge that our staff reside and work on many traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of first nations people. Territories include (but not limited to) that of: Beothuk, Mi’kmaq, T'Sou-ke, Wendake-Nionwentsïo, Kanienʼkehá꞉ka (Mohawk), Ho-de-no-sau-nee-ga (Haudenosaunee), Omàmìwininìwag (Algonquin), Anishinabewaki ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᐗᑭ, Mississauga, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Attiwonderonk (Neutral).
